Toronto police responded to the report of gunshots at a banquet hall in the area of Highway 27 and Steeles Avenue West on March 10th at approximately 9:30pm.
While on scene investigators learned a victim had arrived at a hospital with stab wounds and police said it was related to whatever happened at the banquet hall. The victim died of their injuries at the hospital. Police have not released the victim’s identity or gender.
Police said a man was arrested, and a firearm was recovered. A second victim walked into another hospital with non-life threating injuries related to this incident.
Update: The victim has been identified as Shacquan Harrison, 24, of Toronto.
A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Omary Bent, 26, of Toronto. It is alleged that he is responsible for the stabbing. He will be charged with:
- Second-degree Murder
He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone knowingly harbouring a wanted person could face criminal charges.
Update: On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, Omary Bent, 26, of Toronto, turned himself in to police. He has been charged with:
