Toronto police responded to a report of Unknown Trouble in the Rexdale Boulevard and Kipling Avenue area on September 12th at approximately 8:40pm.
Emergency crews arrived to find Mohamed-Aslim Zafis, 58, of Toronto, suffering from a stab wound to the neck. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
It has been reported by TPS that Mohamed-Aslim Zafis was working as a volunteer caretaker for the IMO Mosque. He was sitting in a chair outside the front doors controlling access to the Mosque to comply with health regulations when the suspect approached and stabbed him once in the neck.
Security footage of the suspect has been released.
Anyone with cell phone images, dash-camera footage, and security video in the area is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400.
Update September 19th
Toronto police arrested Guilherme “William” Von Neutegem, 34, of Toronto, on September 18th and charged him with First-Degree Murder. Police said it is possible that Von Neutegem is also responsible for the death of Rampreet Singh
Update September 30th
According to the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, Von Neutegem may have been associated with the Order of Nine Angles (O9A), described as a neo-Nazi death cult. Guilherme Von Neutegem’s social media posts include the use of terms, symbols and videos used by (O9A).
Von Neutegem’s active account Youtube, his Facebook and Instagram have been deactivated since his arrest.
The Order of the 9 Angles is a neo-Nazi death cult and its believers are told to carry out murders to establish a satanic empire.
Update: On March 24th 2023. The Ministry of the Attorney General said Von Neutegem was found not criminally responsible by an Ontario court. Psychiatric reports filed with the court said Von Neutegem was diagnosed with schizophrenia.
