Toronto police responded to a call for a stabbing in the Kennedy Road and Antrim Crescent area on September 5, 2023, at 6:30 p.m.
Police arrived to find a 12-year-old girl with stabbing injuries, and she was pronounced deceased inside a residence. Police arrested a young male at the scene and charged them with second-degree murder.

The boy, who is now 13 years old, pleaded guilty to the charge of second-degree-murder in court on Thursday August 15th, said his lawyer Alonzo Abbey.
According to The Toronto Star, the boy had arrived from overseas and was living with his uncle, aunt and their children in a Scarborough apartment building. On the day of the murder the accused and his cousin were home alone after coming back from school. When The aunt arrived home with her other children, the apartment door was locked. She forced her way in and found the boy on the exterior side of the balcony railing, dressed only in a pair of shorts. She then found her 12-year-old daughter in the bathtub suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was later pronounced dead.
