Vancouver police investigate the city’s 4th homicide of 2020

Vancouver police stated in a June 5th press released that they are investigating the May stabbing death of Josue Vela.

Background:
Police said Josue Vela, 37, was stabbed on street in the area of Princess Avenue and Cordova Street on May 10th. Vela was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries on May 12th.

Investigators made an arrest, however they released the individual pending further investigation. VPD investigators do not believe there is a risk to the public.

Troy Leard Alsager charged with second degree murder

Troy Leard Alsager, 42, has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of a 55-year-old woman In Vancouver’s east side on September 18th. The woman was rushed to hospital, but died of her injuries.

The victim and suspect lived in the same building, but in separate suites. The relationship between the accused and the victim is not clear.

The motive of the attack had not been released.
