Mass shooting in La Loche takes the lives of 4 people, and injures many more

Two teachers and two teenagers were gunned down January 23 in La Loche. A 17 year boy old is in custody facing four charges of first degree murder.

Brothers Dayne and Drayden Fontaine, aged 17 and 13, were found shot their home. Marie Janvier 21, daughter of the acting mayor worked as a T.A in the high school, died when the shooter entered the school and opened fire. Teacher Adam Wood 35, was also shot and died in the health centre.

Many others were wounded in the shooting. The nightmare lasted 15 minutes before RCMP officers arrived and were able to subdue the teen shooter.

Update May 11th
The shooter, who killed four and injured seven, won’t be eligible for parole for 10 years. Judge Janet McIvor called the shootings “senseless” and “coldly horrific.”

Prince Albert man found dead

Police have launched a homicide investigation after responding to reports of gunshots and finding a 23 year old Prince Albert man dead on January 9th. The un-named man was found dead at his 1st Avenue West apartment building.

An autopsy is scheduled for January 12th.

Two men dead in murder suicide

RCMP are calling the death of two men in Meadow Lake November 5th a murder-suicide.  Police found both men dead after being called to the townhouse on reports of gunshots.

RCMP ssid the 70 year old man was the victim of a 73 year old man’s alleged gun shot. The two men were neighbours.

Matthew John Wells found dead in Regina

Matthew John Wells was shot to death in his home on October 22 in Regina.  Police were called to the scene at 3:30am on repots of gun fire.  Bullet holes could been seen in the window of the home, and Wells was dead on arrival.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. They have no suspects at this time.

A 15year old Regina boy has been charged with second-degree murder in the Oct. 22 death of Matthew Wells.

Robert Brian Oochoo and Jason Dustin Hotomanie 25, of Regina have also been charged with second degree murder.

Silas Lorne Kiseyinewakup found dead in Taber

On the morning of September 22, Taber police found the body of Silas Kiseyinewakup 36, unresponsive next to a farm where he worked.

The cause of death has not been released however Stacey Charles Wahpistikwan 38, of Big Island Cree Nation, has been charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a body.

Police said the two knew each-other and this was not a random attack.

Darian Denzel Moise found dead in Regina

Police were called to the 1200 block of Robinson Street  in Regina, on reports of a deceased male September 13th. Officers and EMS found the body of 16 year old Darian Denzel Moise.

Investigation led police to Lawrence Alvin “Junior” Strongquill, 21,September 18th .  Strongquill is facing a second degree murder charge.

The cause of death has not been released.

Tyrone Knife murdered by a family member

RCMP were called to the Ahtahkakoop First Nation on September 2nd for a report of an unresponsive man. 21 year old Tyrone Jacob Knife, was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital from the scene but was pronounced deceased prior to arrival.

Dakota Hilliard John Knife, 19 years old, who is of relation to Tyrone Knife has been charged  first degree murder.
