2 Charged with the murder of a Yellowknife Taxi Driver

Yellowknife RCMP responded to a report of an unconscious adult male who had been located in a white SUV City Cab in the area of Stanton Territorial Hospital on November 19th at approximately 4:47am.

Police said the victim was transported into the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The victim’s identity and cause of death have not been released.

RCMP have arrested Elias Schiller, 18, of Yellowknife, and James Schiller, 49, of Yellowknife. Both Elias Schiller and James Schiller have been charged with murder.

Richard Binder Jr, found dead in Inuvik

Northwest Territories RCMP announced that Richard Binder Jr, 35, was found dead near Big Lake, in the Inuvik area on November 3rd.

Police had issued a call for public assistance in locating Mr. Binder Jr, as he was wanted on several outstanding warrants. Bender Jr was reported missing on October 28 and a request for public assistance in locating Mr. Binder Jr was issued October 29.

Cause of death has not been released at this time.


RCMP investigating a Fort Liard NWT homicide

Fort Liard RCMP responded to a residence on Birch Road on report of an injured male on October 28th.

Police arrived to find the 34-year-old victim deceased at the scene. The Northwest Territories RCMP Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Services are assisting with the investigation.

Police arrested 21-year-old female has been detained and remains in custody. A publication ban is in effect, no other details can be released at this time.

May Elanik died in hospital of her injuries

May Elanik was found seriously injured and unconscious on a trail in Aklavik NWT, on November 11th.  Elanik was transferred to hospital, Elanik was still unconsciouses when died November 19th.

The cause of death has not been released.

Frank Elanik of Aklavik, N.W.T., has been sentenced to 60 days house arrest for assaulting his wife May in August 2015. No charges related to her death have been laid.
