RCMP investigating Poplar River Homicide

Poplar River RCMP were alerted that a 24-year-old male had been transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries as a result of an assault, on May 31 at approximately 8:45am. The victim died of his injuries in hospital.

RCMP arrested 19-year-old Brendon Valiquette, of Poplar River, and charged him with Manslaughter.

15-year-old charged with second degree murder – Winnipeg police investigating the city’s 19th homicide

Winnipeg Emergency crews responded to report of an altercation where a man was seriously injured in the 300 block of Alfred Avenue, on May 26th at 9:20pm.

A male victim was located and rushed to hospital, where he died of his injuries. No other information is available at this time.

Update June 6th
Police have identified the deceased as Dorian Glenn Sanderson, 17, and said Sanderson died as a result of a gunshot wound. A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with second degree murder.

Mason Scott charged in Easterville Homicide

Chemawawin RCMP responded to report of a stabbing on February 23rd, at approximately 10:00pm at a home in Easterville.

Police arrived to find a 26-year-old man with obvious signs of trauma. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Mason Scott, 20, was arrested at 11:15pm and charged with second degree murder.

Bloodvein RCMP investigating a double homicide. 16-year-old charged with manslaughter

Bloodvein RCMP responded to a report of two deceased males located at a residence in Bloodvein on January 30th at approximately 4:00am.

Police arrived to find a 22-year-old male and a 32-year-old male both deceased. The victim’s identities and cause of death has not been released at this time.

RCMP have arrested a 16-year-old male and he has been charged with 2 counts of manslaughter.

Fourth and Fifth Winnipeg Homicides in 2019, Two Men Shot and Killed at Johnny G’s – Victims identified

Two men were shot at the Johnny G’s restaurant location on Main Street in Winnipeg after midnight Wednesday. They later died in hospital.

This is the fourth and fifth homicide in Winnipeg in 2019. In 2018 there were 22 homicide in Winnipeg versus 21 in 2017.

Update February 8th
Winnipeg police have released the identity of the two victims in the February 6th homicide as Anthony Brian Cromastey, 30, and Rodney Albert Kirton, 25.
Police have revealed that the deceased males died as a result of simultaneous gunshots to each other. Both handguns have been recovered. 

RCMP lay charges in Swan River homicide

Swan River RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing at a home on 5th Avenue South, on January 18th at approximately 11:40pm.

Police and paramedics arrived to find an unresponsive 39-year-old male, from Swan River. Despite life saving efforts, the victim was pronounced at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released.

Police arrested Tyler Brass, 30, on January 20th. Brass has been charged with Second-Degree murder.

Winnipeg Homicide #3 – Dexter Cortavista Dejarisco, dies in hospital 8 days after shooting

Winnipeg police and emergency services personnel responded to a home in the 500 block of Burrows Avenue on a report of a shooting on January 7th.

The victim, Dexter Cortavista Dejarisco, 31, was found suffering from a severe gunshot wound. Cortavista Dejarisco was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries on January 15th.

Benny Lance Hansen, 34, of Winnipeg, was initially arrested and charged with aggravated assault, however since the death of Cortavista Dejarisco the charge has been upgraded to second degree murder.

Pas and Opaskwayak RCMP investigating the deaths of two people. Police not looking for suspect at this time.

The Pas and Opaskwayak RCMP were called to a residence on January 4th at approximately 4:20am, on report of two deceased people.

Police arrived to find a 27-year-old man and 25-year-old woman deceased. Police haven’t released how the pair died, only that they are investigating a homicide.

The RCMP Major Crime Unit are assisting with the investigation. Police are not looking for suspects at this time.

Winnipeg police investigating Christmas Day Homicide of Tyler Evan Smoke

Winnipeg emergency personnel responded to the 400 block of Victor Street for the report of an injured male, on December 25th at approximately 7:15am.

The victim, Tyler Evan Smoke, 26, was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries. Police have not released the cause of death at this time.

Police are asking for help from the public to determining Tyler’s whereabouts prior to his homicide. Anyone who had recent contact with Tyler, and anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6508.

Warrant issued for the arrest of Kane Ashley Antonio Moar in Winnipeg’s 21st homicide of 2018

Winnipeg Police responded to a check the well being call in the 600 block of McGee Street on December 18th at approximately 2:40pm.

On arrival police located an unconscious male who was rushed to hospital. The victim who has been identified as Ricardo Junior Hibi, 34, succumbed to his injuries at hospital.

The name of the victim and cause of death has no been released at this time. Police said the death is being investigated as a homicide.

Update
A Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of Kane Ashley Antonio Moar has been issued for Second Degree Murder of Ricardo Junior Hibi. Moar is described as Indigenous male in appearance, approximately 6’0” in height and weighing 190 lbs with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes.
