At approximately 2:30 a.m., February 20, 2022, Saskatoon Police were called to a residence in the 2700 block of Main Street East where they located a 25 year old woman and a 25 year old man suffering from stab wounds.
Both were transported to hospital where the woman was admitted in critical condition.
Saskatoon police announced on March 18th that thew female victim died of her injuries and the incident is now being investigated as a homicide. Investigators believe there is no threat to public safety.
Update A Court of King’s Bench judge has ruled in July, 2025, that Thomas Hamp is not criminally responsible for fatally stabbing his girlfriend, Emily Sanche, in 2022.
The decision follows arguments from Hamp’s lawyers that he was dealing with obsessive-compulsive disorder, cannabis use disorder, and symptoms on the schizophrenia spectrum at the time of the incident.
