Robert Keith Major charged with two counts of second degree murder in relation to the homicide of a Hinton mother and her 16-month-old

Hinton RCMP responded to a report of a missing 24-year-old woman and her 16-month-old toddler who were last seen in Hinton, on September 16th at approximately 6:oopm.

 RCMP have now confirmed that both the mother and her child have been located deceased. A convicted sex offender, Robert Keith Major, 53, has been arrested and charged with two counts of second degree murder and one count of indignity to human remains.

Police said Robert Major lived in the same apartment complex as the victims. No other connection has been identified by between the victims and the accused. “The family has asked for privacy to grieve at this time and of respect for the wishes of the family, the names of the deceased will not be released by the RCMP.”

Update September 21st: the victims have been identified as Mchale Busch, 24, and her 16-month-old son, Noah McConnell.

**The Alberta RCMP would like to clarify some of the background in this matter. Robert Major had not been subject to any Recognizance conditions since July of 2020.
