Remains located in San Clara identified as First Nations woman Melinda Lynxleg who was missing for 3 years

On April 16, 2020, at 2:40 pm, Roblin RCMP received a report of a missing 40-year-old female from the Valley River First Nation. Police said Melinda Lynxleg was last seen on March 31st, and had not been active on social media since April 9th.

Police announced on June 5th that new information led officers to an abandoned residence in San Clara. Police located the remains of Melinda Lynxleg at the abandoned property.

An autopsy was performed on June 8, 2023, and it was confirmed that the remains are those of Melinda Lynxleg, and the manner of death is a homicide.
