Update, Deng Mabiour pleaded not guilty to the first-degree murder of Dr. Walter Reynolds at a Red Deer Walk-In Clinic

RCMP responded to report of an attack on a Doctor at the Village Mall Walk-In Clinic just after 11 a.m on August 10th.

Witnesses who were in the waiting room said they heard someone yell “help me call 911.” According to reports, witnesses saw what appeared to be a hammer thrown at the officer, which he dodged before yelling for someone to “put down the machete.” Police arrested the accused at the scene.

Paramedics rushed Dr. Walter Reynolds, 45, who suffered head trauma out of the building however he succumbed to his injuries. Police said the attack was an isolated incident that doesn’t present further danger to the community. 

Deng Mabiour, 54, has been charged with first-degree murder, assault with a weapon and assault.

Update December 8th
Deng Mabiour, 54, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in connection with the death of Dr. Walter Reynolds. Mabiour also pleaded not guilty to assault with a weapon and assaulting a police officer on Monday December 7th. According to reports Mabiour told the judge he will be representing himself and said “There is no lawyer good for me to defend me.”
