Ashton Deschamps, 20, a resident of the Louis Bull First Nation community, has been charged with second-degree murder by the Southern Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit. Despite the charge, police have not yet located him and are asking the public for help.
Deschamps is believed to have ties to Maskwacis, Edmonton, and North Battleford, Saskatchewan. He is described as approximately 5’2” tall, weighing 106 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, and a medium complexion.
Investigators believe he may have recently shaved his head. Authorities are warning the public not to approach him if spotted and to report any sightings immediately.
The charges stem from an incident on August 13, when RCMP responded to a firearms-related call at a residence on Louis Bull First Nation around 2:30 p.m. Emergency crews arrived to find 31-year-old Chanse Twins, from Ermineskin First Nation, deceased at the scene.
The Southern Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has since taken over the investigation. An autopsy conducted on August 15 in Edmonton confirmed the death as a homicide.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Maskwacis RCMP at (780) 585-4600.
