Fort Vermilion RCMP responded to the medical center in John D’or Prairie, where a male had been assaulted and dropped off on December 5th. The victim Nathan Nanooch, 25, died of his injuries.
RCMP are treating his death as a homicide. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has been deployed and has taken carriage of the investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled at the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s office.
Update: An autopsy was conducted by the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office on Dec. 8, 2023, and the manner of death was deemed to be a homicide.
An 18-year-old, a 19-year-old and a youth (who cannot be named), all residents of John Do’r Prairie, have been arrested and charged with the second-degree murder of Nathan Nanooch, 25.
