Update: William Alexander Clippingdale charged – RCMP investigate the fatal stabbing of Jason Richard Gill in Surrey

Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a fight in the 6600 block of King George Boulevard on July 23, 2024, at approximately 11:50 pm.

Police arrived to find a male suffering from stab wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, he was declared deceased at the scene. According to City News, the deceased has been identified as 47-year-old Surrey resident, Jason Richard Gill.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6’ tall, clean-shaven with short sandy blonde hair. In a press release, RCMP said It is unknown if the two parties involved were known to each other before the incident, or what the motivation for the incident was.

Update: On August 20, 2024, BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) charged 24-year-old William Alexander Clippingdale with second-degree murder in relation to the homicide.

Investigators believe that the parties were known to one another and that this was an isolated incident. said Corporal Esther Tupper of IHIT, IHIT would like to thank the Surrey RCMP, Vancouver Police Department (VPD) and the VPD Emergency Response Team for their support throughout the investigation.
