Police investigate the death of 17-year-old Lynnora Mikenak in Mishkeegogamang First Nation as a homicide

Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service responded to the report of an assault at a Henry Street residence shortly after 7:00am on May 1st.

Police and paramedics located the victim, 17-year-old Lynnora Mikenak also known as Lynorra Lawson suffering from serious injuries. Mikenak was air-lifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police arrested 32-year-old Jerry Fox of Mishkeegogamang and charged him with aggravated assault.

OPP announced the Lynnora Mikenak died from her injuries on May 8th, and Fox remains in custody and additional charges are pending, as the OPP says their investigation is now considered a homicide.

Update
Fox has now been charged with second-degree murder.
