UPDATE victim identified as Soo Jin JU, in 2020 discovery of remains: Police declare the death of a woman found in Lake Simcoe a homicide

York Regional Police responded to the report of a body at the docks near Lake Drive North on Lake Simcoe on August 29th.

On October 29th Police said post-mortem determined that the woman was between 28 and 50 years old, and stood between four-foot-five and five-foot-one, possibly Asian and was dressed for cold weather. The cause of death has not been determined at this time, however, the homicide unit has taken carriage of the case.

Investigators are releasing images of clothing, jewelry, and an illustration of nail art from the deceased.

Update March 28th 2021
York Regional police have identified the victim as Soo Jin JU, 59, at the time her body was discovered. Her death has been deemed a homicide. Jin JU was reported missing in February 2018 in Toronto. She was last seen in the area of Yonge Street and Finch Avenue she was residing in the Town of Oakville at the time of her disappearance.
