Police said at approximately 8:30am, On February 8th a Société de transport de Laval bus collided into a daycare located at the end of a driveway a significant distance from the closest bus route.
Police say two 4-year-old children are dead and six others were seriously injured. The deceased children have not been named at this time.
According to reports witnesses rushed to the scene and said the driver seemed to be delirious and removed his clothing after getting off the bus. The driver has been identified as Pierre Ny St-Amand, 51, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder as well as seven other charges, including attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Police are trying to determine the motive.
On Friday February 21st, 2025, a Crown prosecutor argued that the man accused of killing two children and injuring six others in a crash involving a transit bus at a Montreal-area daycare two years ago should be found not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder.
