Daajing Giids RCMP are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in the 200 block of Front Street in Skidegate on April 22, 2025 at 1:17 p.m. According to reports, a vehicle struck the pedestrian, who later died from their injuries.

The North District Major Crime Unit has now taken over the investigation.

Although the investigation is still in its early stages, police believe the incident was targeted. “We are in the early phases of the investigation, but evidence suggests this was not random,” said Staff Sergeant Kris Clark of the BC RCMP. “We encourage anyone with information to come forward to police directly rather than sharing details on social media.”

RCMP announced on April 25th that the BC Prosecution Service has approved a charge of second degree murder against 32-year-old Tyson Young in connection with the death of a pedestrian in Skidegate on April 22, 2025.
