Norfolk County OPP are investigating the sudden death of a 52-year-old individual after officers were called to a home on Norfolk Street in Simcoe during the afternoon on April 22 to perform a wellness check.

Police responded to the scene just before 3 p.m., where they found the person deceased. The Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto is set to perform an autopsy to help determine the cause of death.

OPP said they arrested a person who has been charged with second-degree murder and fail to comply with a probation order.

The names of both the victim and the accused are not being released at this time because of a court-ordered publication ban.

Update: The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Melissa Anne Earls. Her daughter, Megan Pearson, 22, has been accused of her murder.
