Nanaimo RCMP investigate the death of a woman as a homicide

Nanaimo RCMP responded to a request for a wellness check of 33-year old Nanaimo woman, on January 10th.

Police said before their arrival, several witnesses entered the apartment where they encountered an unidentified man, along with the deceased person. The man fled the scene.

On January 16, 2024, RCMP revealed that the woman’s death is believed to be criminal in nature and has been deemed a homicide. The man who fled the scene was later identified and has spoken with police.

This investigation is ongoing and at this time, police do not believe there is any risk to the public,” said R/Cst Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a gray 2007 Nissan Sentra with BC plate SP272P (stock photo) that was reported stolen and is related to the investigation.
