The arrest took place on April 20th in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough, and the suspect is expected to appear in court April 21 to face a charge of first-degree murder.

The arrest follows a disturbing discovery early Sunday morning, when a man was found unconscious and badly injured in an alley near the corner of Parc and Mont-Royal avenues. He was then transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Police confirmed the man’s death was a homicide and noted there were clear signs of violence on his body, though no weapon was involved. Investigators quickly set up a command post and secured the area as they began piecing together what happened.

The investigation remains ongoing.
