Montreal homicide 8 – Update: second man arrested in relation to the murder of Claudia Iacono

Montreal police responded to the report of a shooting at a parking lot on Jean-Talon Street near de la Savane Street on May 16th at approximately 4:30pm.

The 39-year-old victim was located suffering from serious injuries and was pronounced at the scene.

Police believe shots were fired in the woman’s direction while the vehicle she was in was in motion, causing her vehicle to crash into a building. Police have not released the identity of the victim, however, Montreal CTV News has identified her as Claudia Iacono, the owner of the Salon Deauville Coiffure Spa, and the daughter-in-law of the late Moreno Gallo, who was a figure on the Calabrian side of the Montreal Mafia.

Update: Joel Richard Clarke, 28, of Brampton, Ontario was arrested in Milton by OPP and charged with First-Degree-Murder.

Update
Montreal police announced on August 14th that a 30-year-old male suspect was arrested in Toronto. He is currently in custody on a firearm charge. He will appear in a Montreal courtroom by videoconference to face a first-degree murder charge.
