Michael F. Gibbon 60, was out for a morning walk was shot with an arrow and left to die on a Kitchener front lawn.  Gibbon was transported to Gran River Hospital where he later died.

Eric Amaral has been charged with second degree murder, assault causing bodily harm, and pointing a firearm.

On February 27, 2023, Eric Amaral, an inmate from Warkworth Institution, died while in custody. He had been serving his sentence which commenced on April 6, 2017. Correctional Service of Canada has not released his cause of death.
