Michael Bruyere stabbed to death in Winnipeg’s 5th homicide of 2020

Winnipeg Police responded to a residence in the first 100 block of Middle Gate on the report of a stabbing on February 11th at approximately 7:38 am.

Police arrived to find Michael Bruyere, 34, of Winnipeg deceased. Later that day, at approximately 4:30 pm, Jordan James Bonwick, 26, was taken into custody outside of a convenience store in the 600 block of McPhillips Street, and charged with second-degree murder.

Police said the victim and the suspect were known to each other and investigators believe that the pair had been at the Middle Gate residence during the early hours of the morning at which time an argument broke out, resulting in the stabbing of Bruyere.
