Big River RCMP received a report of a serious assault on Big River First Nation on June 12th at around 8:45pm.

Police said the investigation determined an adult female assaulted a a 15-year-old girl from Big River First Nation, who was later pronounced deceased by EMS.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes arrested 22-year-old Maryanna Sakebow from Prince Albert and charged her with one count, second degree murder.
