Update: Philippe Jeannotte pleads guilty to Manslaughter x3 – Four men charged in relation to a fatal Sudbury Fire.

Sudbury police responded to a call from City of Greater Fire Services as Firefighters were on scene of a structural fire at a residential building on Bruce Avenue on April 11th.

According to police four people were inside of the unit where the fire originated. One of the individuals, a 37-year-old man was able to escape by jumping from a second-story window. A 26-year-old woman was pronounced at the scene. A 50-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman were rushed to hospital where the 50-year-old victim was later pronounced deceased. The 33-year-old female victim dies in hospital on April 16th.

Sudbury police announced on April 21st that 25-year-old Liam Stinson with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;

  • Party to the Offence of First Degree Murder x3 
  • Party to the Offense of Attempt Murder 
  • Conspiracy to Commit Murder
  • Party to the Offense of Arson – Disregard for Human Life

Update April 27th
Detectives from the Major Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division arrested 48 year old Fernard Bolduc on April 24th and charged him with:

  • Party to the Offence of First Degree Murder x3 
  • Party to the Offence of Attempt Murder 
  • Conspiracy to Commit Murder
  • Party to the Offense of Arson – Disregard for Human Life

Update April 29th
Criminal Investigation Division arrested and charged 34-year-old Jared Herrick and 34-year-old Phillippe Jeannotte on April 27th and charged them with:

  • First Degree Murder x3
  • Attempt Murder
  • Conspiracy to Commit Murder
  • Arson – Disregard for Human Life
  • Break Enter and Commit
  • Possession of an Incendiary Device

Update March 2nd
Philippe Jeannotte, 36, has pleaded guilty to three counts of manslaughter and one count of arson for setting the fire on Bruce Avenue. Jeannotte has been sentenced to 16 years in prison minus time served while awaiting trial.
