St Pierre-Jolys RCMP Detachment were dispatched to a break and enter in progress on March 25th at approximately 1:15 am at a home on River Road in the RM of Tache.

Police arrive to find 77-year-old  Dennis Lidgett and 73-year-old Bernadette Lidgett deceased at the scene. While investigating the scene officers were made aware of a suspicious man in the area.

Police arrested Karlton Dean Reimer, 27, of Steinbach on foot, and charged him with two counts of second-degree murder. Police said there is no known connection between the accused and the victims. According to CBC, the accused’s brother said “Reimer has a history of serious mental illness and drug addiction, and that more should have been done to help him.”
