RCMP responded to a call at a restaurant near Capstan Way and Garden City Road on September 18th.
Police and paramedics arrived at the Manzo Japanese Restaurant to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Paul King Jin was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries and released from the hospital. The second victim, 44-year-old Jian Jun Zhu, was pronounced deceased.
According to reports both Zhu and Jin were key suspects in the RCMP’s E-Pirate money laundering investigation that alleged Zhu ran an underground bank that laundered more than $200 million per year.

Update: On September 4, 2024, Supreme Court Justice Jeanne Watchuk found Mr. Reed guilty of the first-degree murder of Mr. Zhu, reckless discharge of a firearm and possession of a prohibited firearm.
