Winnipeg emergency services responded to a working house fire on Aberdeen Ave, March 14th at around 9:45am. On arrival emergency crews located Jeanenne Fontaine 29 in the residence.
Fontaine was rushed to hospital in serious condition, suffering from both smoke inhalation and a gunshot wound.
Jeanenne Fontaine died from her injuries on March 15th.
Update May 18th
Winnipeg police believe the death of Jeanenne was a matter of her being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Three people have been arrested:
1. Malcolm Miles Mitchell – Charged with second degree murder and arson.
2. Jason Michael Meilleur – Charged with manslaughter.
3. Christopher Mathew Brass – Faces counts of manslaughter and arson.
