Toronto police were called to a home on reports of a sudden death on August 9th at around 2pm. Police found Katherine (Kathy) Plytas, 56 dead at the scene.

Plytas husband of 38 years, Dan Reil was arrested and was charged with first degree murder.

Police were called by the couples home after Reil contacted their children and said that their mother had died in her sleep. That is when the grown children called emergency services.

The cause of death has not been released at this time.
