Update: 4th body found in ditch linked to car fire: Homicide investigation underway after 3 found dead in a burned car

Calgary Fire department responded to a vehicle fire on July 10th at 7:00am in the 100 block of Sage Bluff Circle N.W. Once the fire was extinguished Crew members found bodies of a man and two women, in the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze.

Autopsies revealed the identity of Glynnis Fox, 36, Tiffany Ear 39, and Cody Pfeiffer, 25.

Cause of death has not been released.

Calgary police are asking for the public’s help in the whereabouts of Hanock Afowerk 28 (pictured below). The 2011 Chevrolet Cruze is registered to Afowerk, and police are concerned for his safety.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police non-emergency number at 403-266-1234.

Update: Police discovered a body July 12th near the traffic circle in the ditch at Highway 22 and Highway 8, and are calling the death suspicious. Police said they are no longer searching for Hanock Afowerk. An Autopsy is scheduled to take place on July 13th.

Update July 20

Yu Chieh Liao, 24, who goes by Diana Liao, is wanted for questioning in connection with the quadruple homicide investigation. Liao is an Asian female, 5’5” tall and 160 pounds. She has long dark hair and brown eyes.

Update July 28
Calgary police stated that Yu Chieh Liao, was arrested at approximately 7 p.m. in Toronto on July 27th.

Update October 11th
Yu Chieh Liao, 24, also known as Diana Liao, and Tewodros Mutugeta Kebede, 25, have both been charged with first-degree murder in relation to Hanock Afowerk’s death and three counts each of accessory after the fact in the deaths of Fox, Pfeiffer and Ear. Police said the pair could have further charges against them.
