Hamilton police were called to 187 Park Street South at approximately 4:00pm on May 16th, after the family of Gladys Little went to check on her after 79-year-old Little missed her daily check-in call with her son.
Police said due to the circumstances found at the scene, a post mortem was ordered to determine the cause of death. Although the cause of death has not been released, police said the autopsy revealed that Little was the victim of a homicide.
Anyone from the building who saw or heard any suspicious activity or persons between 1 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday to call the Major Crime Unit at 905-546-3874.
Update May 23
Hamilton police said a warrant for the arrest of 26-year-old Larissa Shingebis wanted for the First Degree murder will be obtained on Sunday morning. Shingebis is is described as female, Indigenous, 5’4”, medium build, with collar-length hair. She was last seen leaving 187 Park Street South on, May 15, 2020 wearing a red long-sleeved blouse, grey yoga pants, white socks, black casual shoes and wrapped in a blue knitted blanket. Police said Shingebis is living a transient lifestyle and is originally from the Thunder Bay Area. Shingebis should not be approached and if seen call 911.
Update May 24
On Sunday May 24th Hamilton Police received information from a local shelter that Larissa Shingebis was staying there. Police arrived at the shelter and placed Shingebis under arrest for the First Degree murder of Gladys Little.
