Hamilton Police were called to 119 King Street West for reports of shots fired at approximately 1:00pm on March 6th.
On arrival, police found a 19-year-old male suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital and pronounced deceased.
Suspects were seen fleeing the area. At this time, there are no suspect or vehicle descriptions. Investigators believe this to be a targeted shooting.
Update: The victim has been identified as 19-year-old, Alexander Circiumaru of Hamilton. Investigation has revealed that Alexander Circiumaru was walking on the sidewalk when a single male shooter jumped out of a car and shot several times before returning to the car and fleeing westbound on King Street West. The vehicle was last seen continuing westbound in the area of King Street West and Queen Street North.
The shooter is described as a male, dressed all in black clothing and wearing a face mask. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a newer model Honda Civic black or dark grey in colour with a spoiler on the trunk.
Police believe this to be a targeted attack and are reviewing area CCTV video in an effort to identify those people involved.
Update March 18th
Hamilton police have recovered the black Honda Civic used by the shooter. This vehicle was located in Hamilton’s east end and detectives continue to investigate the movements of this vehicle around the city both before and after the shooting.
Investigators have also reviewed video footage from numerous cameras in the area in an attempt to identify the suspect(s) involved in this murder.
The shooter is described as follows:
- Male
- Wearing black clothing with a hood over his head
- Gloves
- Facemask
Police have released a photograph of the shooter as captured by cameras in the area.
