Halifax police responded to a report of a disturbance involving several people in the 1700 block of Brunswick Street on December 24th at approximately 1:15 a.m.
On arrival police located 31-year-old Ryan Michael Sawyer unresponsive man on the sidewalk, just east of Brunswick Street on Prince Street. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.
The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and has ruled the manner of death to be a homicide.
*Ryan Michael Sawyer who was originally from Ontario, graduated from Kings Edgehill in Windsor and then attended Dalhousie University to study Business Management.
Update August 16th 2023
Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division arrested Alexander Pishori Levy, 37, a bouncer, after he turned himself in at police headquarters on Gottingen Street on August 16th 2023. Levy is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death in relation to the homicide of Ryan Sawyer.
