Ethan Sunshine pleads guilty to criminal negligence causing death in connection to the death Kihaw Fox in Punnichy SK

Punnichy RCMP responded to a report of an injured female at a residence in Punnichy on April 22, 2023 at approximately 4:30 a.m.

On arrival police located 31-year-old Kihaw Fox from Piapot First Nation, suffering from serious injuries. She was later declared deceased by STARS at the scene.

Punnichy RCMP arrested 28-year-old Ethan Sunshine from Regina, SK and charged him with:

  • one count, second degree murder, Section 235, Criminal Code;
  • one count, criminal negligence causing death, Section 220(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, reckless discharge of a firearm, Section 244.2(3), Criminal Code;
  • one count, pointing a firearm, Section 87, Criminal Code;
  • one count, unauthorized possession of firearm, Section 92, Criminal Code; and
  • one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, Section 94, Criminal Code.

Update on July 28th 2024, Sunshine pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing the death of Kihaw Fox. Sunshine has six years remaining of the eight-year sentence for time served.
