Edmonton police responded to a residence in the area of 106 Street and 79 Avenue following a reported shooting on October 7th at 11:00pm.

On arrival police and EMS located 37-year-old Sam McConnell suffering from serious injuries. McConnell was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

An autopsy was completed on October 12th, and determined that 37-year-old Sam McConnell died as a result of a gunshot wound and the manner of death is homicide.
