Edmonton police charge Tyler Hodgson in the 2016 murder of a five month old baby

Edmonton police attended the Stollery Children’s Hospital in response to a child welfare complaint after a five-week-old boy was admitted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries on September 11th, 2016.

Police said the infant died on September 13th. An autopsy was conducted to determine the cause of death, however, further testing was required to determine the cause of death.

On Dec. 10, 2020, the Medical Examiner deemed the death non-accidental, and it was ruled a homicide.

On July 7th 2021, Tyler Hodgson, 24, was arrested and charged with second degree murder. Police said the accused and the infant were known to one another, but did not elaborate on their relationship.
