Edmonton police are investigating the suspicious death of Aaron Watt as a homicide

Edmonton police responded to a call for assistance from Edmonton Fire Rescue on the report of a fire in the area of 126 Avenue and 73 Street. on January 26th at approximately 10:00pm.

On arrival, police located 24-year-old Aaron Watt deceased. An autopsy was performed on January 28th and revealed the manner of death to be a homicide. The cause of death is not being released at this time for investigative reasons.

Shortly after being called to the homicide scene, police were called to the area of 173 Avenue and Meridian Street where a silver 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander was located burned. Homicide investigators believe both scenes are connected. 

Police are asking that gas station staff or customers who witnessed anyone purchasing and/or filling a red plastic 5L Sceptor gasoline jerry-can, who may have been traveling in a silver 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander between the hours of 8:00pm and 11:00pm, on January 26th.

On Apr. 14, 2022, Faron Paul Howse, 37, was arrested and charged with first degree murder, accessory after the fact to murder and indignity to a dead body.

On Sep. 15, 2022, Brandon Jordan Dumais, 29, was arrested and charged with first degree murder, accessory after the fact to murder and indignity to a dead body.

The second degree murder charge against Colin James Lepretre, 29, who was arrested on Dec. 14, 2021, has since been changed to first degree murder.

The cause of death, which was previously withheld for investigative reasons, was a gunshot wound.
