Edmonton Homicide Unit investigates the death of 25-year-old Efriem Abebe Alatah

Edmonton police said the body of  Efriem Abebe Alatah, 25, of Edmonton was found inside a burnt out vehicle in Sturgeon County just outside of Edmonton city boundaries on April 6th. The vehicle was located at Range Road 242 (66 Street) just south of Township Road 542.

EPS said in a press release “In consultation with the RCMP, however, the investigation has since been transitioned to the EPS Homicide Section, as a result of the incident’s strong links to Edmonton.”

An autopsy was completed on April 7th an revealed the manner of death to be a homicide. The cause of death is not being released at this time for investigative purposes.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Alatah’s 2012 black Jeep Grand Cherokee (similar to the stock image) with a possible Alberta license plate, CHX8636.
