The 2022 Edmonton Homicide Victim List is available here

Edmonton Police were called to assist Firefighters to a suspicious fire at a residence in the area of 118 Avenue and 79 Street on January 23rd at approximately 4:30am.

It was reported that the body of Thomas Richard Russell, 32, was located after the fire was extinguished. An autopsy was conducted on January 25th, however, the cause and manner of death are pending additional testing.

EPS Homicide Section has taken over the investigation and ask Anyone with information is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567.

Update
On July 7, 2022, Kody Shortneck, 28, was arrested and charged with kidnapping with a firearm, manslaughter with a firearm, interfere with a dead body, and arson.
