Dease Lake RCMP responded to a vehicle fire south of Stikine River Bridge on Highway 37 on July 19th. The investigation led police to discover the body of a man at a nearby Highway pullout.
Police have confirmed that the deceased male located approximately 2 kms south from the vehicle fire is neither Kam McLeod nor Bryer Schmegelsky, two young men who have been reported missing.
The deceased male is described as between 5 foot 8 and 5 foot 10, caucasian, heavy build 50 to 60 years old, grey hair and grey bushy beard.

Investigators have identified the victim as 64-year-old Leonard Dyck from Vancouver, BC. BC Prosecution Service has issued one count of second-degree murder for the death of Leonard Dyck to both Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky. Canada-wide warrants have been issued for Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky.
