Mayerthorpe RCMP received a firearms complaint outside of a residence located on Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, Alta on December 1st at approximately 8:20pm.

On arrival police located Troy Pearce, 53, suffering from serious injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts, Pearce was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS.

As a result of the investigation on Dec. 2, 2022, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit charged a 29-year-old individual, of Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, with second-degree murder.
