London Homicide #2 – Police investigating a home invasion that ended in a fatal shooting

London police responded to the report of suspicious individuals entering a residence at 232 Pochard Lane on June 21st at approximately 4:45am.

Police arrived at the scene to find a man whose neighbors have identified as the homeowner deceased of a gunshot wound.

Witnesses reported seeing four men fleeing the scene in two vehicles. Police said the investigation is still in it’s early stages. More information will be added as it becomes available.

Update June 23
London Police have confirmed the victim, 44-year-old Bill Chamber Horrace, is the same individual that media outlets have been reporting as a former member of the National Patriotic Front of Liberia. Police said Horrace’s former association with this group is not the primary focus of the investigation.

According to reports Bill Chamber Horrace was a former General in the National Patriotic Front of Liberia, working for Charles Taylor, the country’s former president, and a convicted war criminal. National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL) was a rebel group that was involved in the First Liberian Civil War from 1989 to 1996.

Update June 26th
London Police Service has issued a warrant for the arrest of Keiron Gregory, 22, of North York, Ontario, in connection with the home invasion and homicide of Bill Chamber Horrace. Gregory is wanted for one count of Second Degree Murder. His whereabouts are unknown however it is believed he may be in the Greater Toronto Area. 

Police said Mr. Gregory may be armed. If seen, citizens are advised not to approach him and to contact 911 immediately.

Update Charges Laid: Robert James Forbister dies following a stabbing near Portage Avenue in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police said Robert James Forbister, 33, was checked into the hospital at approximately 4:35am on June 19th with stab wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, Forbister was pronounced deceased.

According to reports, investigators discovered that Forbister had been stabbed in the area of Portage Avenue and Sherbrook Street. Investigators are asking that businesses in the area of the assault to check their surveillance between 4:00 am and 4:30 am June 19, 2020.

Winnipeg police arrested Brian Jamie CROMARTY, 34, on June 23rd and charged him with second-degree murder.

Update: Thunder Bay police investigate the homicide of a woman

Thunder Bay police responded to a home in the 300 block of Dawson Street following reports of a serious assault just before 2:00pm on June 19th.

Police and paramedics arrived and located a female who appeared to be the victim of a recent assault, suffering from serious injuries. Despite life saving efforts, the victim was pronounced at the scene.

A 21-year-old woman has been arrested, and is scheduled to appear in court on June 20th to face charged.

Update June 20th
Lyrina Jacob, 21, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Second-Degree Murder. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Update June 24th
Thunder Bay police have identified the victim as Lydia Rose Jacob, 47. Police said the two were known to each other, however have not released their relationship.

Update, victim identified: Toronto Homicide #33 – Police investigate a fatal shooting in Corso Italia

Toronto police were called to 1346 St Claire Ave W, at approximately 11:40am on June 19th on the report of a shooting.

Police and paramedics arrived to find Aa white SUV with California licence plates, with its driver’s side window blown out. The victim had been pulled out of the vehicle by bystanders  who performed CPR until paramedics arrived. The victim was pronounced at the scene. Police are not releasing the victims identity until his family has been notified.

Toronto police said it appears that the shooter had been “lying in wait” on a side street. The shooter has been described as male wearing a hoodie. No other information regarding the suspect has been released.

Update June 23

Toronto police have identified the victim as Farogh Sadat, 37, of British Columbia. Faust of death was multiple gunshot wounds.

OPP lay a manslaughter charge in relation to the death of Trevor Benns

Nottawasaga OPP, New Tecumseth Fire Rescue and Simcoe County Paramedic Services responded to a call for a sudden death at a residence on Victoria Street East in Alliston on January 30th at approximately 8:56pm.

Police arrived to find 45-year-old Trevor Benns deceased, the result of an overdose.

On June 16th 2020 Police after a lengthy investigation Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit, Nottawasaga Community Street Crime Unit, Caledon Community Street Crime Unit, Regional Support Team, Central Region Emergency Response Team, and support from OPP specialized services executed a search warrant at a residence on Christie Crescent in Barrie and arrested three people.

Michelle Longworth, 38, of Barrie, and Akino Phillips, 38, of Mississauga have been charged with manslaughter, and criminal negligence causing death, as well as other trafficking-related charges.

Durham region’s first homicide of 2020 – Stabbing claims the life of Kelvin Brown St

West Division were called to a residence on Tams Drive in Ajax for a stabbing on June 4th at approximately 1:20pm.

Police and paramedics arrived to find Kelvin Brown, 21, without vitals. Brown was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Police have charged Nigel Ramlogan, 20, of Pickering with Second Degree Murder. He was held for a bail hearing.

Saskatoon police investigate the suspicious death of a 39-year-old woman

Saskatoon Police Service were called to a residence in the 400 Block of Avenue M North for report of a deceased female on June 14th at approx 12:39am.

A 39-year-old woman was found deceased in the home in what police have called a suspicious manner.

Members of the Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section and Forensic Investigation Section in cooperation with the Coroners Service continue investigating this incident.

Brampton man charged with manslaughter in Sharbot Lake fatal area hit and run

OPP said Wayne Kimberley, 64, was walking on the north shoulder of HWY 7 near Sharbot Lake when he was struck by an unknown vehicle, that fled the scene.

After a lengthy investigation, OPP charged Mahaveer Jain, 57, of Brampton on June 9th with manslaughter, criminal negligence causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and failing to stop at an accident in relation to the death of Kimberley.

Montreal Homicide #8 – 23-year-old man dead after drive-by shooting in Pierrefonds

Montreal Emergency crews responded to the report of a vehicle crash on June 12th in Pierrefonds.

Police believe the victim’s vehicle was parked on Dauville St. while both the driver and the passenger, who is also 23, were consuming drugs. A second vehicle drove by and opened fire in the driver’s direction of the parked vehicle, before fleeing the scene.

The injured driver attempted to drive away, however, he lost control and crashed the car into a fence. According to reports the driver was struck in the upper body and was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries. The passenger of the vehicle was uninjured.
