Kathleen Leary attacked with three different weapons

On May 19, EMS were dispatched to the first 100 block of Cheltenham Cove for the report of an injured woman around 6 p.m. On arrival Officers found Kathleen Leary 66,  suffering from injuries to her upper body, Leary was rushed to hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.  Leary was attacked with three separate weapons including a knife, a metal rod and a hammer.

Police charged a youth who is known to the victim after finding him at the scene. He was later charged with first degree murder.

 

Abdiweli Mohamed Yusuf killed in Danforth shooting

The victim of a shooting at a Danforth Ave. café  on May 19th has been identified as Abdiweli Mohamed Yusuf, 21, of Toronto.

Multiple gun shots were fired around 1:34 a.m. May 19th at the Rotana Café at 1530 Danforth Ave. just west of Coxwell Ave.

Yusuf was sent to St. Michael’s Hospital in critical condition with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Nellie Angutiguluk’s death ruled a homicide

The body of Nellie Angutiguluk, an Inuit woman originally from Nunavik, was found inside an apartment in Côte-des-Neiges on May 18.

Police considered it a suspicious death at first, but have since ruled it a homicide.

Police are asking anyone with information about the victim to come forward or call police.

Kwasi Alfred Benjamin, 29, was charged on Thursday with the first-degree murder of Nellie Angutiguluk.

Three charged in the death of Percy Simon.

Ontario Provincial Police and the Wikwemikong Tribal Police have charged three people with second degree murder following the death of Percy Simon May 17th on the Manitoulin Island First Nation.

The cause of death has not been released.

Charged with second degree murder are two Wikwemikong residents Robert Wemigwans, 31, and Tammy Trudeau, 43, as well as Byron Kagige, 56, of Hamilton.

Milton Brian Richard dies from stab wound

Milton Brian Richard 35, is dead after he was stabbed in Winnipeg’s West Alexander neighbourhood on May 16th.

Police were called to reports of the stabbing at 11pm. Richard was rushed to hospital where he later died.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have information to come forward, or call the Winnipeg Police Service homicide line at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Update: Luka Gordic Stabbed to Death

Luka Gordic was stabbed May 17th  just before midnight near Main Street in Whistler, Gordic was suffering from life-threatening injuries and was transported to the local clinic. Despite life saving measures, the young man was pronounced dead at the clinic.

Four teenagers have been charged, Arvin Golic 18, and three 17 year old boys who cannot be named.

Update June 7th, 2017
18 year old Arvin Golic has been found guilty and has been charged with manslaughter in stabbing death of Luca Gordic.

Update October 7th 2017
A judge found two of the remaining three accused guilty of manslaughter and the third guilty of second-degree murder on Friday October 6th. The three accused names have been placed under a publication ban due to their age at the time of the homicide.

Jesse James stabbed to death

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing downtown London on May 15th.

Jesse James -24 was found by paramedics on the sidewalk suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to LHSC where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

No further details on suspects have been provided at this time.

Assult Victim William McConville Dies of Injuries

William McConville died in hospital May 15th, three days after he was rushed there after being assaulted in broad daylight outside his apartment building at Stinson Street and Victoria Avenue South in Hamilton.

police were called to an assault in progress May 12th at 11 a.m. When they arrived, McConville was found unconscious and with serious injuries and the assailants had taken off.
