So far in Covid times, Regina, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton have seen significant increases in their homicide rate versus last year. Of the 13 cities we track, 5 have seen increases versus last year. Brampton and Surrey has seen a significant drop in their homicide rates. Toronto is down but similar to last year.

Currently in 2020 Regina has the highest homicide rate while Ottawa has the lowest rate. Regina’s rate is over six times that of Ottawa. 2020 follows the general trend where western cities have significantly higher homicide rates.
