Update, Arrest Made: Canada wide warrant issued for the arrest of Mohamud Omar Dhiblawe in Lethbridge’s first homicide of the year

Lethbridge police responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 200 block of University Drive West on February 6th at approximately 10:30pm.

Police arrived at the home to find a 35-year-old man dead. The victim’s identity will not be released however, police said the cause of death was a gunshot wound. Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and alleges a verbal dispute surrounding the drug trade occurred between the victim and the suspect.

Lethbridge police have issued a Canada Wide Warrant for the arrest of Mohamud Omar Dhiblawe, 29, of Toronto. Dhiblawe is wanted for first-degree murder in the city’s first homicide of the year.

Update March 9th
Mohamud Omar Dhiblawe was arrested at a residence in Regina on March 6th, during an unrelated drug search warrant. Edmonton Police and Lethbridge Police have each charged Dhiblawe with one count of second-degree murder.

Mohamud Omar Dhiblawe, is also wanted for the murder of Mohamed Ahmed Makaran, 32, who was shot and killed in an apartment unit on McConachie Boulevard in Edmonton.
