Edmonton police responded to the report of an injured female at a residence in the area of 139 Avenue and 35 Street on November 21st at approximately 8:00pm.
Officers arrived and performed CPR however the 31-year-old woman was pronounced at the scene. An autopsy completed on November 25th revealed the woman’s death was a homicide. Police said the cause of death is being withheld for investigative reasons. Police also noted that the victim’s 11-year-old son was present at the time of her death, her name is being withheld to protect his privacy during this difficult time.
Police have issued a Canada wide warrant for the arrest of Donny Nathan Meeches, 31. Meeches is wanted for second degree murder. He is described as an Indigenous male with brown eyes and black hair. He is 5’10” tall and weighs approximately 175 lbs pounds. Meeches was last seen wearing dark pants, a white long sleeve top and a dark jacket and has several noticeable tattoos on his face, neck, arms and hands. He also reportedly has ties to Manitoba and British Columbia.
Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the EPS directly at 780-423-4567.
Update: Homicide suspect in custody. Donny Nathan Meeches, 31, turned himself in to police early Friday morning, Nov. 26, 2021following the media release for his arrest.
