Calgary police investigate a fatal shooting in Vista Heights

Calgary police responded to reports of a shooting in the 2500 block of 23 Street N.E. on May 18th at approximately 5:35 p.m.

Upon arrival, police located one man deceased at the scene. Police said officers responded to two collisions shortly after that are believed to be related to the shooting. One of the collisions occurred in the 2700 block of 23 Street N.E. One man was transported from the scene to the hospital in life-threatening condition.

The second collision occurred near the intersection of 26 Street N.E. and Sunridge Boulevard N.E. Officers responded and quickly took one man into custody. The person in custody and the victims are believed to be known to each other.

Update: An autopsy was completed on Friday, May 19, 2023, by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which confirmed the identity of the deceased man as Graeme Lee MCCOLM, 41. As a result of the investigation, Tyler James REDDEN, 26, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
