Calgary police responded to the report of a man in medical distress in the area of 200 block of 52 Street S.E on May 10th at approximately 10:00pm.
On arrival, police and paramedics arrived to find the victim suffering from life threatening injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. After speaking to witnesses, Police determined the fatal assault took place in a parking lot outside of the 7-Eleven, located in the 5300 block of 8 Avenue S.E.

Update May 12th: Shay Vincent Saddleback, 25, of Calgary, is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second-degree murder. Saddleback is described as Indigenous, 5’9” tall, 160 pounds, with a medium build, black hair, and brown eyes. He has tattoos on both forearms.

An autopsy was completed on May 12th, and the victim has been identified as Justin Applegarth, 27, of Calgary.
Update May 17th
Shay Vincent Saddleback, 25, was arrested in Edmonton on May 17th and charged with second-degree murder.
