Owen Sound police responded to a serious assault that occurred on Thursday, August 17th, 2023 shortly after 9:15 p.m., in the 900 block of 9th Avenue East.
The victim Sharifur Rahman, 44, a local business owner, was assaulted by three Caucasian males who had attended his business and became involved in a dispute connected to the business which has been described as a dine and dash by several outlets. The assault took place out front of The Curry House. Rahman sustained serious injuries and was taken to London Health Sciences hospital where he died of his injuries on August 24, 2023.
The first male is described as being Caucasian, 5’10”- 6’2” tall, medium build, with short dark hair, wearing a light blue t-shirt, black shorts and black running shoes. The second male is described as being Caucasian, 5’10”- 6’2” tall, medium build, with short brown hair which is longer on top, wearing an orange t-shirt, black shorts and black running shoes. Both are believed to be in their mid-twenties to mid-thirties in age. Police are aware of a third male who is described as being Caucasian with curly hair, wearing shorts and a t-shirt and being in his late forties to mid-fifties in age.
The vehicle involved is similar to a gray or blue 2000’s model Ford Escape or Mazda Tribute.

Update: The Owen Sound Police Service and OPP announced on Thursday August 15th that the ongoing joint homicide investigation resulted in arrests on July 30, 2024.
On December 18th 2024 Owen sound police announced the names three accused from the United Kingdom. Police said the suspects linked to the assault had left the country, necessitating coordination with international police for overseas arrests.
Robert Evans, 24, of the UK was arrested and charged with manslaughter. Robert Busby Evans, 47 and Barry Evans, 54, were both arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to commit an indictable offence.
The men are currently in the UK and are before the courts in relation to extradition.
